Bilingual Sounds SLP was founded in 2021 by Dr. Paula Pineda, SLPD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL. Dr. Pineda, received her Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University in 2023 and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Adelphi University in 2011. She is an ASHA Board Certified Specialist in Child Language, a distinction recognizing advanced clinical expertise in assessment and intervention for children from early childhood through adolescence. She is a dedicated bilingual speech-language pathologist with a profound passion for empowering families with young children. With 14 years of experience in the field, and 20+ working with young children and families, she has honed her skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and feeding disorders in children.
Dr. Pineda serves as the Chief Clinical Supervisor at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she leads clinical training, oversees community partnerships, and prepares graduate students to deliver culturally and linguistically responsive services with humility, compassion, and equity.
Through Bilingual Sounds, Dr. Pineda works with:
Infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and families
School-age children (K–12)
Educators, administrators, and school teams
Programs serving bilingual, bidialectal, and multilingual communities
Her approach blends evidence-based practices, cultural humility, family-centered practice, and trauma-informed care. Dr. Pineda believes that communication is relational - and that supporting a child always includes supporting the caregivers, teachers, and environments around them.
Her mission is simple: help children grow into confident communicators while honoring the languages, cultures, and relationships that shape who they are.
She is a life long-learner.
